Dysgnostic's 'End Whispers' is a dissonant death metal album that showcases the band's potential to stand alongside underground leaders in the genre. While the album has its strengths, particularly in its dissonant atmosphere and stanky riffs, it also has some weaknesses that prevent it from being a truly memorable listen. The album's front half consistently satisfies, with guitarists Simon Kannegaard and Mads Bertram H Gath creating dissonance through parallel guitar lines and Thomas Fischer's unhinged, guttural scream providing the ideal vocal complement. Drummer Richardt Olsen delivers a standout performance with his unrelenting blastbeats and galloping double bass, adding to the album's intensity. However, the album begins to falter with the slow, meandering track 'Ignis Fatuus', which loses momentum and intrigue. The final tracks, including 'Orphaned and Abandon' and 'Glimpses of a Lost Horizon', are overly focused on creating dissonance and incorporate unnecessary additions like a saxophone solo, which detract from the album's overall impact. Despite these weaknesses, 'End Whispers' is a solid album that showcases Dysgnostic's potential to stand alongside underground leaders in the dissonant death metal genre. The band needs to hone in on consistently delivering impactful payouts to their dissonant atmosphere, however, to truly stand out in the genre.
